I love this fabric. The same pattern comes in a few different colors so next time there's a sale I'm going to stock up. I did buy enough of this to make two nursing covers to if you like it as much as I do let me know. This one's for a friend who just had a little boy last week. Sylvia has started "helping" me sew. She likes sitting on my lap while I'm at the machine and playing with the pins.
Here is a special order of baby girl burp cloths. It was fun but difficult for me to pick out girly fabric that didn't have to work for a nursing cover too. I really like how they turned out. The black fabric is my favorite.
I bought extra fabric so if anyone is looking for a baby girl gift let me know. Hopefully I'll get to the fabric store to stock up on some boy fabric.
I've had this fabric for quite some time and have always really liked it. Last week I finished a nursing cover for a friend and got to use the fabric.
There is also a matching burp cloth but I don't love how it turned out. For some reason the nursing covers have gotten easier and easier to make while the burp clothes are getting harder. I have an order of burp cloths to finish today and so far they're already going better!
A high school friend ordered these a few weeks ago. I like seeing the two burp cloths side by side here. I really don't know which style I like better.
Another nursing cover finished and gifted. Sylvia now likes sitting on my lap while I sew. It can make things a little more difficult but she usually behaves herself. She likes to set fabric on the machine and put the pins on the pin cushion.
Last night I hosted a baby shower with the help of a couple of friends. It was wonderful to have people over to our home since we haven't done that for quite a while.
My first flower arrangement made strictly from cut flowers and leaves (nothing from the store).
Guests wrote a note for guest of honor on bird shaped paper cutouts.
Bird magnets for the party favor.

I bought new fabric a few weeks ago. Now that school is out, I'm finally getting some use out of it. Half of my purchases are already claimed for specific people but here are the three that remain.
You can also look back at my April 1st post to see other available fabric. I've used the back left and the front two middle ones already.
This fabric bolt was just shy of the 1.25 yards of fabric I need to make a nursing cover and matching burp cloth but I could not pass it by. I think I might do more with linear because it looks so clean when you're done. With only a sliver of fabric left over after completing the nursing cover I had to modify the burp cloth, but I ended up liking it a lot with the single strip down the middle.
If you are viewing this it means you made it to my new blog! Thanks for checking it out. I'm hoping this will make it easier for people to find my sewing projects.
I will no longer be posting my projects our family blog so make sure to add this site to your list if you want to keep up with what I've been working on.
I went to lunch at Blackstone with my friends from playgroup on Monday...without any kiddos. We celebrated Linda's soon arriving baby #2. It's harder to have an adult conversation during playgroup now that the kids are getting older. We spent almost two hours enjoying good food and chatting before heading home.
I enjoyed making decorations, etc. even though I have been busy with the end of the school year.
Here's the newest nursing cover I made. My sister-in-law had me make it for a friend of hers.
Now that our family room is done, I have a large place to sit while I cut and pin fabric...in front of the TV. I've found that it's much easier to do lots of cutting and pinning at one time. That way I have a lot of sewing to do at once. I've feared using linear fabric in the past but it actually went pretty well. Mistakes are more noticeable, but you've also got the line on the fabric to follow for your hem. The verdict is still out on whether or not I liked using the linear fabric.
The school year is nearing it's end and I'm looking forward to having more time this summer for sewing. Hopefully that will mean adding a few new projects to my repertoire.
I've had a few people request nursing covers recently so I thought I'd re-post the fabric I have available. If you want to take a look at any previous nursing covers you can click on "nursing cover" at the bottom of this post. You may be able to see a better picture of some of the fabrics this way. You can also click on the photo in this post to view a larger picture. Let me know if you're interested.
Another nursing cover completed and sold! This may be the best one I've made yet. I'm getting a system down and it's going a lot more smoothly now. If you're interested let me know. I still have some fabric unclaimed and I'll probably go to the store again soon.
I got crafty again the other night with a simple project. Things have been so busy recently so it took me awhile to finish my gifts for the preschool staff. Hopefully they don't mind the extended holiday this year. All I did was add a strip of fabric to a white kitchen towel. Lots of fun and very easy.
