I finished a nursing cover and two burp cloths the other day for a good friend. They're having a baby boy but mom likes pink. So, I didn't use matching fabric for the two. Just a reminder that the nursing cover is for mama and doesn't have to be gender specific.
I cleaned the high chair and put it back together for Erickson. Sylvia had been using it without the tray. The cusion it came with was very worn out and cracked so we threw it away awhile back. So, I found this fabric at JoAnn's and made this seat cusion. I can't believe he's almost 6 months and ready to start eating food. We tried out some sweet potatoes the last couple of days. He's not sure what to think of them.
A friend recently asked me to make a donation to the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale for a silent auction fundraiser. Here are the burp cloths I made. Sylvia has really enjoyed "helping" me sew recently. Her job, while I worked on these, was to put the pins away when I was finished with them. She started sticking them in the ends of my spools of thread and making "balloons."
I'm ready to start doing a little sewing now that we're getting used to having two kiddos in the house. I need to get out to the fabric store sometime but for now, this is what's available.
I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and have enjoyed spending some time being creative. After a few trial attempts, I successfully made these t-shirts for Sylvia and the new baby. I used iron on backing and then drew the letters onto the fabric and sewed around them. Then I cut them out and ironed them onto the shirts. After that, I sewed around them again to firmly attach them to the shirt. I don't think I'll add this to my list of sewing projects but it was fun to make something special for my kids!
When I couldn't find the white cloth diapers I like at Walmart or Target, I decided to order some of the unbleached diapers we use for Sylvia. They're slightly larger than the white ones and they have a more natural look to them because they are unbleached. Some of my fabrics look a lot better on the unbleached diapers as you can see from these two.
I found some cute fabric recently and decided to make some blankets. These are two sided flannel blankets that are the perfect size for swaddling a baby...even a large baby. I already want to go back to the store and get more fabric! If you're interested in a baby blanket, let me know. $25 a piece.
